Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Driver/DSP to work part-time. In this role, you will be responsible for transporting passengers safely and efficiently to approved appointments, outings, and events. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, a clean driving record, a strong commitment to customer service, and the ability to support individuals with intellectual disabilities. This position is crucial in ensuring a positive and safe experience for everyone. In some instances, the Driver may have to act in a capacity of a DSP, where they may provide in home care to the Person(s) supported. 

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a van or shuttle vehicle to transport passengers to various locations.
• Ensure timely pick-up and drop-off of passengers according to scheduled routes.
• Maintain a clean and well-functioning vehicle by conducting regular inspections and reporting any maintenance needs.
• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting passengers with boarding and alighting from the vehicle. Escort passengers from door to door as needed.
• Assist passengers with special needs, including those requiring para-transit services.
• Communicate effectively with team members regarding schedules, delays, or passenger needs. Report all incidents.
• Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations while driving.
• Keep accurate records of trips, including passenger counts and mileage.
• Provide support as a Direct Support Professional if needed.
• Able to work evenings and/or weekends if needed.

Skills

• Proven experience as a delivery driver, van driver, or in a similar role.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people with differing abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with passengers and team members.
• Familiarity with shuttle driving or commercial driving regulations is an asset.
• Ability to navigate efficiently using GPS systems or maps.
• A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is required.
• Experience in bus driving or school bus driving is a plus, particularly for those working with larger groups or specialized transportation needs.
• Strong organizational skills to manage schedules and routes effectively.
• Ability to demonstrate patience and care when providing support as both a driver and DSP.
• Ability to successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical.
